Katharina Bossmann
Printmaker / Artist
Biography Katharina Janik Bossmann, born in Oak Park, Illinois, is an internationally known printmaker. She grew up in a bilingual household where art and music were emphasized. Her previous career as an opera singer offered her the chance to move to Germany where she would paint in the studio of Harald Seyfried Lantin in Karlsruhe, Germany. She spent much of her time in the area of the Black Forest. The study of printmaking is where she truly found her medium, combining her love of art and science. Bossmann not only creates prints, but has also made a “greener” solvent for the print studio while doing an independent study in Chemistry. She would like to create a permanent cross-campus collaboration with printmaking and chemistry. Her work is in the permanent collections of the Pinacotheca of Araraquara in Brazil and the Museum für Druckkunst in Leipzig, Germany.
